HISTORY:
History Edits: Her mother majored in cultural studies witha focus on mythology. About a year after she married her husband she went on a trip to Norway to visit a professor about old norse legends, and she can back pregnant—though she told him she'd actually been pregnant before she'd left, and he believed her.
When Ashlyn was only a year her mother took in Elise, who was three—claiming that she was the oprhaned daughter of an estarnged cousin. AShlyn and Elise grew up thinking they were sisters', and though they both noticed that the other was different, they assumed that was normal. Her youngest sister Abby, is actually the daughter of both her parents, though Ashlyn doesn't know that.
It was clear Ashlyn was kind of a kid genius from an early age, but she refused to be sent to a special school and instead attended her normal high school while self-teaching herself at her own pace.
NORMAL HISTORY:
Ashlyn was the middle child of three, which meant that she was the one everyone forgot. She was always overshadowed by her older sister's vibrant personality and dance career, and her prodigy younger sister's music talent. Ashlyn wasn't untalented, but she kept her writings a secret. The fact that she was often forgotten didn't bother her, in fact, she preferred it. But then things changed.
Her mother disappeared when she 15, and they all assumed she'd been killed until divorce papers showed up in the mail for her father nearly a year later. It was around this time that Elise, her elder sister, started getting involved with drugs, though they didn't find out about that until later.
Three years after the divorce papers came, her mother moved back into to town, with her new husband in tow. She immediately began trying to reassert herself into her daughters' lives. Shortly after that Elise was arrested for attempted robbery of a pharmacy and illegal drug possession.
Suddenly Ashlyn found that she was no longer invisible, but rather the source of gossip and object of some much unwanted attention. Now she was the girl with a flighty mother and a junkie sister. Ashlyn couldn't take it, so she applied to the University. She didn’t care if people thought it was weird. She paid for it with her mother’s new supply of money. Essentially, she was running away.
PERSONALITY:
To Ashlyn, being a middle child was equivalent to being invisible. While this may have been influenced by her living in her sisters’ shadows, it was also helped by Ashlyn’s reclusive personality. Her chosen form of communication was silence, and she hardly revealed anything about her feelings to anyone. She wasn’t completely alone, she could talk to Abby(younger sis) and her small group of friends , but she was never very close with anyone. And though she would never admit it, she was pretty lonely.
She wasn’t unfriendly or hostile, she just preferred to keep to herself. But with that also her came her fascination with people. Her favorite thing to do was too watch random strangers-and not so random people as well-, which is where a lot of the inspiration for her writing came from.
Nor was she shy or weak. She could be pretty fierce when she wanted to be, and she didn’t take crap from anyone. She does tend to avoid confrontation, but she recognizes when she needs to stand up to other people. But really, what defines Ashlyn more than anything is her passion for her work and for the world around her. Too bad no one ever gets to see it.
