HISTORY:
Malika was born to a poor family in Ecudaor. All her life she had to work hard in order to get anything she wanted. She was an extremely bright child, but the schools around her did not challenge her enough, and she fell into a bit of a rut and got into trouble, especially after her mom died giving birth to her little brother when she was 5. That was, until she found out her family was moving to the US when she was 14.
She starting going to high school in the second semester of freshman year. She loved it, because for once, she felt like she was being appropriately challenged. She got straight As and was friends with all of her teachers. Lots of kids made fun of her because she spoke another language at home, but she didn't care since she wasn't worried about making friends, she was worried about succeeding.
That was when she met a boy named Amri Dukhkin. He liked her a lot and asked her out several times but she declined, not wanting to associate with him since he was such a terrible student. But eventually she gave in a said yes. She didn't really approve of his lifestyle or his friends, but they enjoyed each other's company immensely.
She had always wanted to become a doctor, and she got accepted to a prestigious med school across the country. When she graduated as the valedictorian, she decided to end things with Amri, knowing that a long distance relationship would be hard enough without the fact that med school would be extremely challenging, and she had grown tired of his delinquent ways.
So she moved across the country and started med school. She loved med school, so much that she didn't have time for anything else, instead she spent all her time reading textbooks over and over again...but she did miss something, she missed Amri. And so now she's transferred to a med school in New York in order to get him back.
PERSONALITY:
One thing about Malika is she's extremely ambitious. She wants to create a new life for herself in the US be extremely successful so her kids will never know the challenges she faced in Ecuador. She's also highly intelligent and booksmart, with tons of willpower and studiousness. Basically, she's an amazing student with a perfectly logical and analytical mind.
Her weak side is her social skills. She doesn't really care for people since people are just things to occupy time that could be spent studying. This doubles for girls. She's never made friends with with girls, and has spent her whole life surrounded by boys. As such, she can be rather sneaky and mean and blunt. Friendliness is not something she's ever found a reason to attain.
