HISTORY:
Yuliya's parents were both from Ukraine, and immigrated when Chiye was pregnant with their first child. Because of her father's brothers connections he had made while traveling the world, he was able to secure Vivek a good job as the editor of the New Yorker and the family was well off.

Yuliya was born four years after they had moved, and from the beginning, they could tell she was a little off. She had reactions like that of animals and had trouble getting along with kids at school, though she was very smart for her age. She started seeing a therapist when she was seven but didn't gain much from sessions. Confused about what to do with her, when she was eleven, they sent her back to Ukraine to live with her father's mother, Zyma.

They could not have made a worse mistake, for Zyma had grown bitter because neither of her children still lived in her country. She was very cruel, and so Yuliya's progress was only sent backwards. The worst was when her grandmother took Yuliya aside and told her that she was the Lady of Shalott, doomed to die alone, and her brother was the Highwayman, who would be killed because of love. Yuliya is still trying to figure out what this means.

Other than Zyma, she loved everything about Ukraine, and spent most of her days there riding through the valleys on her beloved mare. She rarely went to school and mostly taught herself through reading books in nooks outside while watching her mare graze.

Only now has she returned back and registered in normal school. She misses Ukraine, and still wonders if she should tell her father that Zyma was cruel to her. And then there's her autism that has always plagued her and prevented her from making normal human relationships, but maybe she'll figure it out eventually.


PERSONALITY:
Yuliya Dukhkin' is someone on the outside, a rubix cube in a world of puzzles. To anyone passing by, she is a shadow surrounded by animals who passes off into the distance without stopping to look back. Her most outstanding feature is that she doesn't like the company of humans. It really is because she doesn't know how to act around them. They confuse and and make her scared. Once she knows a person thoroughly, she can be charming and actually pleasant to be around, but hardly anyone has tried to get to know her long enough for this. She is a very intuitive person, and performs actions based on her emotions more, which often means she does very stupid things.

She is extremely secretive, and never tells anyone about her past. She is like this because she hates to feel like someone else in control, and especially that they are in control of her. She finds it hard to trust people because she always thinks they will abuse it. She is passionate about the things she loves, the formost of which being animals. She loves all animals, especially horses, with a deep passion that rules over her entire life. On top of all of this, though, is a deep desire to be free from everything, and to live without looking back.

STRENGTHS/SPECIAL SKILLS:
Strengths

1.) Horseback riding - Yuliya has been taught as a Cossack how to ride, which is more than just how to control a horse, she's knows how to connect with a horse and become one, so that instead of making the horse do what you want, what both of you want is the same.
2.) Animals - Yuliya has a bit of a knack for animals, including calming them down and getting them to trust her.
3.) Writing - She has a talent for finding words that go together to make something beautiful, if only she had the paper to write it down on...
4.) Smart - Yuliya is really good at school work and has always been ahead of the game, which is why she's at this school when she's only 17

FLAWS:
Shy/Social Anxiety: Yuliya finds it very hard to meet new people and to be able to communicate with them. She finds herself looking to the ground and for ways to end conversations early without even telling people her name

Autism and OCD: Yuliya finds is difficult to communicate with people to think, shall we say, in a straight line. She has obsessive compulsiveness about her and somewhat bizarre responses to things.

Borderline Personality Disorder: This disorder causes Yuliya to make impulsive acts, have chaotic relationships, and a frantic effort to avoid real and imagined abandonment. She has an unstable mood and self-image and some self-harming tendancies, along with a chronic feeling of emptiness.

Distrusting: Under no circumstances does Yuliya trust anyone. She will NEVER put her life or the lives of those she holds dear in another person's hand. As such, she takes everything on herself even when she knows she cannot handle it because she believes that herself overworked is better than a person with nothing else to do any day. Even people she has known for years are not given the honor of holding her trust. It takes a person several encounters to even hear her give her true name.

Can't Express Her Feelings: Yuliya has absolutely no idea how to healthily express her feelings. When angry, she can take it out on herself or people she loves that has nothing to do with it. When disappointed she will harbor long-lasting resentment and use it later in the future. Even when happy she can find a way to express it wrongfully, by throwing herself into that happiness and forgetting everything else that she should be doing.

Nervous/Paranoid: Due to her autism, Yuliya is extremely nervous, like a scared animal. It takes a lot to reassure her that it;s okay to be off her guard.

Prone to Jealousy: Yuliya can get jealous very easily. This springs from her being extremely competitive. She is very used to getting much of what she wants.

Obsessive: If Yuliya finds something that catches her fancy, whether it be a positive or negative feeling, she will not let it go until she has acted on it in some way. She will think about nothing else and let it control her whole being and give everything else important a back seat.

Nosy: If she finds something she needs to know, she NEEDS to know it and will not let go until it has been found out, even if it has nothing to do with her and she has been told she would be better off not knowing. She can't help but continue to poke and prod until she is sure that she knows every secret that has come across her.

Insomniac: Yuliya has never ever been able to sleep very well. she either can't fall asleep or she wakes up constantly. Sometimes taking pills and such helps, but only occasionally does it do anything.

Partial Hydrophobia/Fear of Seaweed: Yuliya is scared of water that goes over her waist, especially if she cannot see through it. When in this situation, she cannot think straight enough to swim to shore(Nor would she know how), she instead, quite frankly, freaks. This is doubled when she also sees seaweed in the water for she is certain that it will try to grab her and then pull her down.

Faint: By this, I mean Yuliya faints a lot. She has very low blood sugar and is rather sensitive to stressful or uncomfortable situations. Her small body can't handle it, so she faints quite a bit.

FAMILY:
Both of her parents were recent immigrants to New York, so at home, she doesn't speak English. Her mother is Chiye Dukhkin' and her father is Vivek Dukhkin' whom she both loves dearly, even though Vivek is often not home very much because of his job as the editor of the New Yorker. Vivek also has a brother named Voda, who is a photojournalist and travels the world. Yuliya loves him as well. However, Zyma, Vivek's mother and Yuliya's grandmother, does not like Yuliya and Yuliya did not like to have to live with her for so long. Then, of course, there is her brother Amri, who is her favorite person in the world.

Of course she doesn't know that her and Amri's actual father is Loki.
